A Business You Love Begins With — YOU
Discover Your Unique Path to Entrepreneurial Bliss
Creating a business that aligns with your true self is the foundation of a venture you can genuinely love. It’s not just about making money; it’s about finding meaning and purpose in what you do.
Achieving this balance can sometimes be challenging. You may find yourself loving your work but struggling with profitability, or experiencing financial success while feeling drained by your clients or the nature of the work.
For me, a big misalignment was a traditional approach to one-to-one coaching (where you meet once a week or bi-weekly at a set time). I loved my clients but didn’t love opening my calendar and seeing appointments I was obligated to. To some that sounds silly, I know. Many coaches would love to be — as they say: booked solid. But the idea of that makes me want to run in the opposite direction.
FREEDOM is my ultimate priority. I still do one-to-one coaching but I do it differently. (How? — making a note to write about this and link back at a later time.)
So you might be wondering, what does it takes to have a business you love and financial freedom without compromising your values or losing sight of who you are?
Find Your Business Sweet Spot:
To create a business you love, you need to identify your business sweet spot — the intersection of your unique talents, ideal clients, irresistible offerings, and a business model that suits you.
There’s no one-size-fits-all approach; cookie-cutter solutions won’t work for someone as unique as you. Just as wearing someone else’s shoes may look nice on the outside but never quite feel right, building a business that doesn’t align with your natural way of being will leave you unfulfilled.
Reflect on the following questions to uncover your business sweet spot:
- What are your super-gifted skills or talents?
- Who are the clients you’re designed to work with and will adore?
- What can you offer that will make clients break down the doors to work with you?
- What business model makes perfect sense for you?
Stay Connected to Your Offerings:
It’s essential to maintain a strong connection to what you’re offering. While it’s perfectly fine to aim for financial success, it should never come at the expense of your authenticity or the satisfaction of your clients. When building your business, it’s crucial to stay true to yourself and pay attention to the work that genuinely excites you.
Consider the following questions to evaluate your connection to your offerings:
- Do you feel connected to your offer? If not, is it the actual offer itself, the way you deliver it, or the target audience?
- Are you compromising your values or sacrificing the quality of your work to achieve financial gains?
Embrace Your Power:
Remember that you are the driving force behind your business. No guru, mentor, or peer can dictate your choices and decisions. While seeking advice and guidance is valuable, ultimately, you hold the power to determine what feels right and what doesn’t.
Building a business requires introspection and self-discovery; there are no shortcuts on the path to entrepreneurship.
Reflect on the following question to assess where you might be giving away your power:
- Are you relinquishing control over your business choices and decisions to a guru, mentor, or peer?
- If so, how can you regain autonomy and trust your own instincts?
Emphasize Your Point of View:
Your point of view is the essence of your business. When you are clear on what you believe and align it with your work, everything falls into place. Expressing your unique perspective enables you to attract clients who resonate with your values and passions.
Consider the following question to explore your point of view:
- What is your distinctive point of view?
- And, how effectively are you expressing it in your business?
Own Your Desires:
You have the right to want what you want. Your desired level of income and the vision you have for your life are entirely up to you. Don’t settle for less than what you truly desire and deserve.
Reflect on the following question to assess where you might be compromising your desires:
- Are you telling yourself to settle for less than what you genuinely want in terms of income, lifestyle, or personal fulfillment?
Take Action:
Now that you’ve gained insights into building a business you love, it’s time to take action.
Use the exercises above to delve deeper into your business and identify areas where alignment is needed. Make a commitment to prioritize your values, embrace your power, and express your unique point of view.
Building a business you love is an ongoing journey, so be patient and kind to yourself as you navigate this process.
Building a business you love starts with aligning your passion and profit. (And ‘profit’ means so much more than just money.)
You deserve to have a business you love — that ignites your passion, serves clients you adore, and allows you to express your unique gifts.
By staying connected to your offerings, embracing your power, emphasizing your point of view, and owning your desires, you can create an adventure that reflects who you truly are.
