I’ve got an incredible story to share with you that will leave you feeling inspired and ready for action.

A few years ago, there was a drive-in theater, one of the last remaining in our province, facing the risk of closure. The film industry was going digital, and their equipment was becoming obsolete.

But here’s the twist — instead of giving up, an amazing family with an entrepreneurial spirit decided to rally their community for support. They raised funds to purchase the necessary digital equipment and saved the drive-in from extinction.

The result? They were rewarded with packed nights and a thriving business. What’s the secret behind their success? It’s simple: people support what they help create.

And guess what? The same principle applies to you as an online entrepreneur. So, let’s dive into this concept together and discover how asking for help can propel your business to new heights.

Before we go any further, let me introduce you to a brilliant example of this — Kickstarter. Have you heard of it? It’s an incredible platform that revolutionized the way creative projects are funded.

From films and games to music, art, and technology, Kickstarter is the home for all kinds of projects brought to life through the support of the general public. Since its launch in 2009, it has enabled over 22 million people to pledge over $7.3 billion, funding more than 587,000 creative projects. Can you imagine the possibilities?

I remember watching online entrepreneur, Natalie Sisson, raise funds through Kickstarter to self-publish her book, “The Suitcase Entrepreneur.” It was a joyous moment to see someone embrace the power of asking for support and achieving their dream as a result.

That got me thinking — when was the last time you asked for help? And I’m not just talking about money here. I’m talking about identifying the gaps in your business and reaching out to the people you know for assistance.

Now, I understand that asking for help can sometimes feel daunting. But you see, most people genuinely want to help; they just need to know how. That’s where you come in. It’s time to get clear on what you need in your business — those missing puzzle pieces that will bring your vision to life.

So, grab a notebook, make yourself comfortable, and let’s start brainstorming. Jot down everything you need, from introductions and recommendations to resources and feedback. This is your chance to dream big and identify the stepping stones that will lead you to success.

But wait, here’s the golden nugget of wisdom — instead of sending out a generic letter or email, be intentional and personalize your requests. Take a moment to think about each person in your network and how they can contribute to your goals. Conversely, think about each gap and then identify who is the best person to reach out to with your request.

Tailor your asks to their strengths and expertise. This personalized approach not only shows that you value their support but also creates a stronger connection and a greater likelihood of receiving the help you seek.

As an introvert myself, I can assure you that this method works wonders. With this targeted approach, you’ll be amazed at the progress you can make and the doors that will open.

And here’s a powerful tip — before you reach out, think about the ways that you might support their success. And if you’re not sure, by all means, make sure you ask (genuinely).

Before we wrap up, let’s take a moment to reflect on the power of asking for what you need. Asking is the most neglected secret to success and happiness.

Have you ever experienced the magic of asking and receiving? How did it impact your business? I’d love to hear your stories and insights in the comments. Your experiences might just inspire someone else on their journey.

Remember, you don’t have to go it alone. Your community is ready and willing to support you. So embrace the power of asking, fill those gaps in your plans, and watch your business soar to new heights.

I believe in you, and I can’t wait to witness the incredible things you’ll achieve. Now, go out there and make magic happen!
